RENT A CAR

If you are planning a road trip, one of the best ways to get around a country is to rent a car! Away from the big city crowds, driving gives you a lot of freedom and find hidden gems.

While not always the best option, when possible it’s for sure something we do often! Below we share the most common website that we use for renting a vehicle:

LOOK FOR DEALS

Rental Cars

This is the regular website we use to aggregate the best deals, it has comprehensive filters and you can easily check the best deals specially among the big companies.
It might not have the best information on smaller ones, for those you might need to do some research depending on the country, but as far as the big international ones go, we recommend it.

TIPS WHILE RENTING A CAR

  • If you are renting a car through one of the international companies, for the most part you will be fine. Make sure you check the country regulations to see if you need any additional document or any deposit restriction. We’ve had different experiences using the same company in different countries so be on the lookout for that.
  • Car rental can be a bit confusing since some companies (depending on the country) can be more strict than others. For most of the time you have a fixed value of your rental and then you can add more insurance. There’s usually a deposit that will be sent back to you when you return the car. We’ve had situations where no deposit was needed. Others where the deposit was really high so it all comes down to company and country. Make sure you do a bit of research.
  • Take pictures of the car before you start driving it so you can remove an responsibility from previous damage.
  • Most (if not all) companies accept credit card specially for your deposit. But if you don’t have one if you have Debit you can most likely use that one instead. Check for the card policy of the company and the country.
